Little Victories has a brand new beautiful infant room! We provide a safe, secure “home away from home” where your child can learn, play and grow. Our highly trained teachers offer a nurturing and creative environment for your infant to develop their bodies and minds. Below are examples of how we promote Physical and Emotional development:

Physical Development

1. Movement ‚by encouraging rolling, scooting, crawling and walking with the use of a variety of tools supplied in the classroom.
2. Balance ‚ supportive sitting, swings, infant seats, chairs and most importantly with one on one support.
3. Adequate rest ‚ allowing sleep as needed and directed by the parents.

Emotional Development
1. Security ‚ responding to expressed needs.
2. Love and Care ‚ touching, holding, changing, playing and holding during feeding.

Megan Olson - My name is Megan Olson and I am the Director for Little Victories Child Center. Just to give you a little history on me. I am from Spokane WA, my family and I just moved to Forest Lake this past May. My husband and I have two children; Kambell, 2 1/2 who attends Little Victories and Hayden, 5 who is in Kindergarten. I have been in the child care profession for most of my working life. Before leaving Spokane I was the Director of a full-day program for the last six years. I had also worked as a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher prior to that for four years. I love this ever changing, challenging and exciting profession. It is extremely rewarding to know that in some small way I am contributing to your child’s early childhood educational experience! In my spare time I love cooking, traveling and spending time with my family.

Cindy - Toddler Teacher. Cindy has been with Little Victories for over a year. Cindy has an AAS Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching for many, many years as well as being a mother of two and a “big kid” herself. In Cindy’s free time she enjoys making and selling her crafts, hiking, having fun with her two children and husband and snowmobiling. Her favorite childhood memory was climbing up trees and getting real dirty, which make Cindy a perfect match for our Toddlers!!

Jackee - Infant Teacher. Jackee has been working at Little Victories over a year now. Jackee has lots of Infant Room experience. Before being employed by Little Victories she worked in another center in their Infant Room for 4 1/2 years. Jackee is currently enrolled in college where she is earning her degree in Nursing. In Jackee’s spare time she enjoys shopping, school and boating. Her favorite childhood memory is spending time with her Dad. She also enjoyed camping with her Mom and Sister.

Nicole - Toddler/Preschool Teacher. Nicole has worked at Little Victories since January of ‚Äò08. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, with a BA in Psychology. She worked at the University Child Center for 2 years with children ages 2-4 years. She is now in a Master’s Program for Teaching. In Nicole’s free time she likes to play volleyball, softball and tennis. She really enjoys hanging out with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading, going to the movies and shopping. Her favorite childhood memory is riding bikes and hula hooping with her brother and being the “Big Sister” when her little sister was born.

Alana - Lead Preschool Teacher. Alana has a Bachelors degree in Social work and she began her early childhood experience by working as a Family Resource Provider for the Head Start Program. She also taught the 4K program as a Lead teacher for 3 years. She is currently training for the Twin Citites Marathon and she enjoys scrapbooking, cooking and traveling. Her favorite childhood memory is attending Vacation Bible School with her siblings and friends…she still remembers all those songs!

Sara - Infant Teacher- Sara has been with Little Victories since June of ‚Äò08. Sara had lots of experience caring for children. She has worked at Trinity Family Center in Hudson WI in an infant and toddler room. She also does some substituting at St. Croix Center with all age groups. Sara even was a nanny of Infant Triplets in Montreal, Canada!! Some of Sara’s hobbies include; traveling, reading, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite childhood memory is getting her first kitten when she was 8 years old…and she still has her!

Kelsi - Preschool Teacher - Kelsi has been working at Little Victories since September of ‘08. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Child Psychology. Kelsi has experience working with children as a camp counselor and has also been a nanny. In Kelsi’s free time she enjoys horseback riding, reading, camping and just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. Kelsi favorite childhood memory is when she was 5 years old and she received her first pony!

Susan - Toddler Teacher - Susan has been working at Little Victories for about a month now. She previously worked as a Nanny for a family and was a Teacher at a center in an Infant Program. She also has experience working with developmentally delayed children as a behavior specialist. In Susan’s free time she enjoys reading, swimming and movies! Susan’s favorite childhood memory is gong camping every summer and exploring many areas in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Kaitlin - Toddler Teacher -Kaitlin is our newest team member at Little Victories. Kaitlin earned her degree as a English and German major. She is currently Student Teaching at Oakdale Elementary in their ESL program. Kaitlin is new to childcare but is enjoying learning all about Early Childhood Education! In Kaitlin’s spare time she enjoys reading, traveling and writing. Her favorite childhood memory is dancing to Bob Dylan’s “Tangled up in Blue” with her dad when she was 4 years old

Michele works as a subsitutue teacher in our Preschool room. She has a Degree with a major in Mass Communications and a Minor in Sociology. She has extensive experience with preschool to school age children. She enjoys writing and going to the theatre. She is also a published author of a book called “Grab your Tiger”.

Little Victories offers warm lunches daily!

If a child in attendance at Little Victories for more than 5 hours, they must have a meal. Little Victories will serve breakfast at 8:30 and lunch at 12:00.

There are two options for meals:
1. Parents may provide a meal for their child. (see below for meal requirements)
2. Meals may be purchased from Little Victories, breakfast is $2 and warm lunch is $4. Warm lunch must be ordered by 9:30 a.m. A cold lunch option is available that does not require an advance order.

**Children attending a full day will receive meals free of charge.

Meal Requirements: Per FDA requirements a meal must consist of the following food groups:

1 serving fluid Milk
1 serving of protein
2 servings of vegetable and or fruit
1 serving grain / bread

Little Victories will not serve any snacks, lunches or dinners with peanut ingredients. We cannot, however, guarantee that there is no peanut in the facility. Any questions, please talk to the Director.

Curriculum Philosophy

Little Victories is a child friendly environment geared to educate children by incorporating learning with fun activities that will allow the children the opportunity to profit from their daily interactions. We strongly encourage individuality as we develop the whole child.

Little Victories Childcare has all of it’s classrooms self contained. Each room is equipped with it’s own restrooms and hand washing sinks. All of the interest groups required by licensing will be offered in each classroom. Large dramatic play equipment and items in the sensory table will be rotated from time to time to ensure variety in creativity.

Weekly lesson plans will be posted in each classroom and include music and movement, group time, arts and crafts, quiet time, games, large motor activities, cognitive and manipulative activities, and dramatic play. In addition, the preschool room has a writing center, discovery center, and a math center. We will also be incorporating one new sign language sign and one new Spanish word with each new theme in both classrooms.

We encourage child-provoked activities and make time available for these teachable moments in every day’s lesson. Flexibility is the key to a well-balanced lesson plan. The Directors and other qualified teachers have eveloped this childcare program and will annually evaluate in writing. It is always available for parents to review in the center office. Little Victories Childcare will ensure that our activities are designed to promote the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional progress of each child.

The toddler’s curriculum is centered around play. We believe that young children learn through hands on experience nd participation so we provide as many opportunities as possible for toddlers to select, explore, and practice skills through a variety of materials and prepared activities. Through play, your child will learn to develop problem solving skills, social skills, and communication skills. We will also be working to develop and enhance language skills and self-help skills. The toddlers’ environment is both organized and flexible to accommodate their needs. Our goal is to balance active/quiet, individual/group, and child selected/teacher directed activities to provide opportunities for physical,
emotional, social, and intellectual development. We will achieve our objective by including all of the following:

Physical Development
1. Large motor - encouraging movement through a variety of activities both indoors and out such as climbing, running, jumping, swinging, playing ball and other group activities
2. Small motor - activities that encourage hand eye coordination such as stringing beads, cutting, pasting, and block building
3. Balance - provide creative movements, obstacles and group activities that encourage balance
4. Eye-hand coordination- encourage children to use toys, books, and tools

Emotional Development
1. Independence - providing choices, encouraging self motivation, and self help skills
2. Self Esteem - positive reinforcement and encouraging self-exploration through sharing of feelings, stories, and dramatic play. Creating self confidence by encouraging toddlers to do various items by themselves

Social Development
1. Interactive skills - group activities both large and small, games, stories, music, dance and show & tell.
2. Behavioral skills - We will encourage good habits while discouraging bad ones. At this age children cannot yet mediate themselves, therefore separation and redirection during disagreements and over activity will be enforced.
3. Basic Routine- We will work on following the same pattern on a daily basis.

Intellectual Development
1. Language - encouraging speech, conversations, show & tell, story telling and reading.
2. Cognitive - exploring nature, shapes and colors, books, puzzles, and matching games.
3. Creative - music activities, art and dramatic play.
4. Personal Growth - identify basic body parts and what each can do
5. Reading Readiness - encourage eye movement from left to right.
